NAIROBI, May 3, 2006 (LifeSiteNews.com) – In a letter condemning corruption in Kenyan government, Episcopal bishops there affirmed that respect for life is fundamental to the survival of the nation.

Writing on behalf of the country’s Episcopal community, Archbishop John Njue stated, “We must understand clearly that if we have no respect for the lives of other people, our community and nation will not progress. It will not even survive.”

“The deliberate murder of an innocent human being is against the law of God and human dignity itself,” the bishop’s statement emphasized. “Human life is sacred – from the moment of conception to natural death. No person can claim the right to destroy another human being.”

Njue is the chairman of the Kenya Episcopal Conference (KEC); the Conference released the statement Monday after a five-day plenary meeting. As reported by allAfrrica.com, they also condemned government corruption, reminding lawmakers there that fraud, cheating, deprivation of wages and grabbing of land are violations against laws instituted by God.
