Excerpted from August Campaign Life Coalition National News

TORONTO, July 20, 2007 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Fr. Ted Colleton needs no introduction to Canadian pro-lifers. He is a leading personality in the pro-life movement, having dedicated his life to the unborn since coming to Canada in the 1970s after being kicked out of Kenya by President Jomo Kinyatta. He has spoken to countless audiences at pro-life conferences, churches and demonstrations. He has enlightened us with his breadth of knowledge and delighted us with his sense of humour. He has given selflessly, thinking only of the unborn and his compatriots in the pro-life movement.

For nearly a quarter century Fr. Ted has penned a monthly column in The Interim, Canada’s life and family newspaper, and the sales of his books have kept that paper alive. He has demonstrated at abortuaries and served time in jail numerous times for doing so. He bridged the gulf between many church-goers who think that the pro-life movement is a little scary or a bit weird by presenting a friendly but firm voice on our behalf during many guest appearances at Catholic churches. And most of all, he has prayed—relentlessly.

Not bad for a guy who began this work at a time when many people begin their retirement. We’ve heard many times that people wish they could do half as much for the pro-life movement at half Father’s age.

So at the age of 94, Father wants to return to Ireland, in his words, “to be with me own.” Later this year, Fr. Ted will return to Dublin to retire (and pray) at Kimmage Manor.

As both a thank-you and a good-bye, there will be a “Feast for a Lion,” at Spirale Restaurant (888 Don Mills Rd.) in Toronto on August 9 beginning at 6 pm. Admirers and supporters of Fr. Ted are invited to what is certain to be an enjoyable evening with a dinner and silent auction. Tickets are $85 or $850 for a table for 10. Tickets can be ordered from Yoli at (416) 204-9749 or 1-800-730-5358.

Campaign Life Coalition is inviting everyone to come and celebrate Fr. Ted’s contribution to the pro-life movement in Canada (and abroad) and thank him for his support. We will miss his regular presence at pro-life functions—unable to travel to this year’s National March for Life, he sent video greetings—but we know that he will continue to pray for the unborn and those who work on their behalf. We must find in his dedication and actions inspiration to similarly work on behalf of the most vulnerable among us.
