WASHINGTON, October 31, 2007 (LifeSiteNews.com) - A CNN/Opinion Research Corporation Poll conducted from October 12-14 has found that most Americans do not believe the law should accept homosexual 'marriage.'

1212 adults were polled by telephone and asked, "Do you think marriages between homosexuals should or should not be recognized by the law as valid, with the same rights as traditional marriages?"  56% of respondents said they "should not" while 40% said they "should".  3% were unsure.

A related LA Times/Bloomberg Poll conducted October 19-22 found that only 30% of Americans supported homosexual 'marriage'.

1039 registered voters were asked, "Which of the following statements comes closest to your view? Same-sex couples should be allowed to legally marry. OR, Same-sex couples should be allowed to legally form civil unions, but not marry. OR, Same-sex couples should not be allowed to either marry or form civil unions."

38% said "neither", 26% said "form civil unions", 30% said "marry", and 6 percent were unsure.

Both polls had a 3% margin of error.
