NETHERLANDS, February 1, 2008 (LifeSiteNews.com) – A Dutch judge has ruled that an investigation against a woman who is accused of having murdered her unborn child in Spain may proceed.

The woman, whose name has not been released, was arrested in early December of last year by Dutch authorities on charges of murder and infanticide for having received an abortion after the six month limit prescribed by the nation’s abortion code (see previous LifeSiteNews coverage at https://www.lifesitenews.com/ldn/2007/dec/07121801.html).

According to the Associated Press, the woman acknowledges through her attorney that she received an abortion in Spain at an advanced stage of gestation, but claims that she had a “psychological need” that is covered under Spanish penal code exemptions.

The Dutch case is only one example of the allegedly illegal activities that have provoked the arrest and prosecution of Spain’s “abortion mogul,” Carlos Morín. Morín owns Ginemedex de Barcelona, a chain of abortion facilities that have been accused of fabricating diagnoses of a mental health “risk” required to do late term abortions under Spanish law. Morín and twelve others are under investigation or are being prosecuted for their actions.

The Dutch woman is suspected of having paid Ginemedex clinic personnel in Barcelona to kill her unborn child after more than six months of gestation, which is well within the period of fetal viability.  According to the Associated Press, the woman went to Spain precisely because she could not obtain her abortion under the law of her own country.

The prosecutions involving Ginemedex in both Spain and the Netherlands present a sharp contrast to the situation in the United States, where evidence of rampant violations of abortion law and other abuses are routinely ignored by prosecutors, often allowing abortionists and mothers virtual legal impunity in their activities.
