Lesbian Couple Plotted Death of Mother for Opposing Relationship

SAO PAULO, Brazil, June 27, 2008 (LifeSiteNews.com) - A teenage lesbian, Tainá de Campos Rosa, has been arrested in Brazil for plotting the death of her mother for opposing her relationship with another woman, according to Brazilian press reports.

After questioning Campos Rosa, 18, and her lesbian partner, Renata Alves da Silva, 21, police received conflicting stories about the authorship of the plot.  However, reports agree that at least one of the two offered two hit men 5,000 reais (3,119 USD) each to kill Campos Rosa's mother, Carmem Silva de Campos Rosa, 45, with the knowledge of the other.

The would-be assassins accosted the senior Campos Rosa as she was leaving her church and forced her into the back of her car at the point of a gun. However, someone saw the kidnapping and called the police, who apprehended the vehicle and arrested the two hit men.  They then led police to Alves da Silva and the junior Campos Rosa.

In addition to eliminating the opposition of Campos Rosa's mother to their relationship, the lesbian couple was seeking access to her savings, according to reports.
