June 17, 2008 (LifeSiteNews.com) - LifeSiteNews.com has uploaded 104 of its finest photos from the 2008 Canadian March for Life, allowing those who attended the March to relive the inspiring event, and giving those who were unable to attend a look at this extraordinarily powerful witness to the pro-life cause in Canada.
The 8 page photo-essay depicts various events from before, during and after what was undoubtedly Canada's most successful March for Life yet, including the candlelight vigil, the vigil Mass and the Silent No More presentation.
Crowd counters tallied attendees at this year's March as being a record-breaking 8,000. As former MP Pat O'Brien, in introducing the various MPs who were present, told the assembled crowd, "This is consistently the largest demonstration to come to Parliament."
Those who view the March for Life photo-essay will undoubtedly be struck, as have organizers of the annual March, by the overwhelming number of youth that consistently attend, giving the March a youthful vibrancy that is unlike that of almost any other political advocacy event. On page 8, readers can see photographs of the literally hundreds of youth who gathered on the Hill, even after the March was over, to continue singing and celebrating with former Broadway performer David MacDonald and his band.
Jim Hughes, the President of Campaign Life Coalition, which organizes the annual March, said about the online photos, "We hope that seeing these photos will encourage others, who have not done so in the past, to go out of their way next year to attend what is undoubtedly Canada's largest and most exciting annual pro-life event."
"The 2009 March for Life," continued Hughes, "will take place on the 40th anniversary of the decriminalization of abortion in this country. We encourage Canadians to come out to the March for Life in greater numbers than ever before, to drive home the fact that we will no longer stand for the slaughter of countless innocents in our nation."
