Abortion Most Prevalent Among Women Aged 20 to 24 – Statistics Canada

"Cold Numbers" Reveal National Crisis

OTTAWA – May 21, 2008 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Yesterday new Statistics Canada data revealed that the number of women who underwent induced abortions in 2005 decreased by 3.2% from the previous year’s numbers. 96,815 induced abortions were reported for 2005.

Women in their early 20's continue to undergo more abortions than any other age group, with 31% of all induced abortions committed on women aged 20 to 24.  While, women under the age of 20 experienced the largest decline in abortion rates, with 13 out of every 1000 choosing abortions compared to the 2004 statistic of 13.8.

Jim Hughes, National President of Campaign Life Coalition, commented on Canada’s desire to be at the forefront of the “human rights” movement, one that has not only accepted but advocated the murder of millions of human beings: “Canada likes to brag about its human rights record at home and abroad, while it ignores the mounting death toll that it has refused to stop,” he said. "The blood of these innocent babies cries out for justice. We are killing the future of our country. We are already a country which is not replacing itself and we have eliminated more than three million people from our population. We will soon be suffering from a population implosion."

Mary Ellen Douglas, National Organizer of CLC, implored Canadians to truly grasp the reality that these statistics perpetuate: “Statistics are cold numbers but each one of these precious babies not yet born are human beings who were systematically dismembered by doctors and this was paid for by the taxpayers,”

Statistics Canada’s release includes women aged 15 to 44, and asserts that 14.1 of every 1000 women aborted their babies in 2005 compared to the 2004 statistic of 14.6.  As well, the number of induced abortions for every 100 live births fell to 28.3 in 2005 from 29.7 in 2004.

These statistics do not include the unborn who were killed due to chemical abortifacients such as RU-486, the morning-after pill or abortifacient contraceptives, nor those induced abortions performed in Manitoba abortion mills.
