Love and Life Site to be Initiated at World Youth Day 2008: "A Microcosm of the Culture of Life"
Will run from July 16th-18th

SYDNEY, May 23, 2008 (LifeSiteNews.com) - This summer, for the first time in World Youth Day history, the Sisters of Life together with the Knights of Columbus College Councils and John Paul II Institutes from around the world will co-host a site called the "Love and Life Site" devoted to catechesis and evangelization on human life and human love.
With 500,000 pilgrims registered thus far, Sydney, Australia will host World Youth Day from July 15th -20th, 2008, marking Pope Benedict's first pastoral visit to Australia.
Established by Pope John Paul II in 1986, World Youth Day serves to embrace individuals of every race and culture that they may come together with their Catholic Faith in common to share and celebrate their Catholic faith.
In initiating the Love and Life site, the Sisters of Life and the organizers are extending an invitation to young people; an invitation to step into a microcosm of the Culture of Life.
A contemplative/active community of religious women founded by John Cardinal O'Connor in 1991, the Sisters of Life take the three traditional vows of poverty, chastity and obedience as well as a fourth vow "to protect and enhance the sacredness of human life".
The first mission of the Sisters of Life is to 'build the kingdom of God and the "Culture of Life"':
"Our missions are carried out with the heart of the Church and with the hope of revealing to those we serve the inherent goodness and beauty of their own lives, so that each person may see and experience the truth that they are an unrepeatable creation of the Master".
The Sisters of Life will be hosting the Love and Life site at World Youth Day, but their active love and zeal for life and for its protection are further demonstrated in their day-to-day apostolates which include opening up one of their convents to provide respite for pregnant mothers (the Visitation Mission). As well, the Sisters provide support to those who are suffering the pain of loss through abortion by offering day and weekend retreats called "Entering Canaan".
The Love and Life site at World Youth Day Australia will run from July 16th-18th and will centre on prayer (both adoration and the prayer with the Sisters of Life), catecheses (Mass and instruction from Bishops on "Life and Love" topics) and a daily 'youth fest' boasting of several dynamic performers and speakers including Matt Maher, the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal and Catholic Underground, Choicez AU, and a screening of the movie Bella. The site will also highlight a top-notch Theology of the Body lecture track taught by international John Paul II Institute professors.
