SAULT STE. MARIE, Ontario, November 26, 2009 (LifeSiteNews.com) - The Huron-Superior Catholic District School Board (HSCDSB) has allowed students to take home the Algoma Public Health student H1N1 vaccination consent form which includes, in the line asking for the gender of the student, "other; unknown; transgender," as well as male and female.

Algoma Public Health indicated that the collection of information on other genders besides male and female in the Health Unit's jurisdiction was a requirement of the Ontario Ministry of Health.

LifeSiteNews (LSN) was unable to discover any other Health Unit in Ontario that has included "other; unknown; transgender" in their consent forms, nor been able to find this directive from the Ministry of Health.

Sault Ste. Marie City Counselor Susan Myers said she was aware of the consent form but refused to express an opinion when contacted by LSN to comment on the gender-confused language used on it.

However, Catholic School Trustee Kathleen Rosilius told LSN she was "astonished" at the "agenda-driven, social-engineering" language used on the form given to school children, and questioned the appropriateness of distributing the vaccination consent forms in Catholic schools.

"I asked at the board meeting on November 18 if this had been approved by the director of education (John Stadnyk) and was told 'it came at us so fast, it may not have been,'" Rosilius said.

Mr. Stadnyk was not available for comment when LSN attempted to contact him.
