October 20, 2009 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Students from all over the world are giving up their voices today for a day in solidarity with children who have lost their lives to abortion.

Red arm bands and red duct tape on their mouths will identify the students as taking part in the sixth annual Pro-life Day of Silent Solidarity. They will carry fliers explaining why they are silent and educate others about the plight of the innocent children we are losing every day.

Bryan Kemper, President of Stand True Ministries which organizes the event, said last year students from more that 4,800 campuses in 25 countries stood together in solidarity against abortion.

“By refusing to speak the students create a huge buzz and abortion will be the most talked about subject on campus,” Kemper explained. “This generation is fed up with the senseless violence of abortion and is determined to bring an end to the abortion holocaust.”

“We have heard of hundreds of girls who have cancelled abortions because of this day every year,” Kemper said.

“Hearts are being changed, babies are being saved, and women are being spared the trauma of post-abortive pain. People are coming together in unity to promote a culture of life. Personhood is being restored on campuses across the nation.”

“Thousands of American babies are permanently silenced every day by the violent act of abortion,” said Kristan Hawkins, Executive Director of Students for Life. “This is a day for pro-life students to honor those children as they stay silent as an act of solidarity with these innocent victims.”

There is no cost to participate in the event but registration is recommended on the organizing website.
