Catholic Alverno College Hosts Links to Pro-Abort, Homosexualist Groups

By Kathleen Gilbert

MILWAUKEE, Wisconsin, June 22, 2010 (LifeSiteNews.com) – A conservative student group has launched a protest against Alverno College, a Catholic educational institution for women, whose research division directs online visitors to several pro-abortion and homosexualist groups.

TFP (Tradition, Family, Property) Student Action launched the peaceful protest after discovering links to extreme pro-abortion groups including the National Organization for Women, the Center for Reproductive Rights, EMILY’s List, and the Feminist Majority Foundation, on the resource page of the Alverno College Research Center for Women and Girls.

The page also hosts links to Lambda Legal and the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN), two top homosexualist groups, among other homosexualist advocacy groups.

Kevin Jennings, the former executive director of GLSEN who is now serving as President Obama’s safe schools czar, has been at the center of several scandals for his extreme homosexualist advocacy. These include Jennings’ dream of “promoting homosexuality” to youth without opposition, and his involvement in a GLSEN conference that taught youth a dangerous sexual practice known as “fisting.”

Lambda Legal has spearheaded or participated in key litigation promoting the homosexualist agenda, including cases that won recognition of same-sex “marriage” in Iowa and California, and the Supreme Court case Lawrence v. Texas invalidating laws against sodomy.

In its mission statement, Alverno College states that its curriculum, which “includes both a philosophy and a program of education,” is “rooted in Catholic tradition.” Alverno College president Mary Meehan has not responded to LifeSiteNews.com’s request for comment as of press time.

TFP Student Action has launched a protest petition asking Alverno to remove the abortion advocacy links.

“It’s scandalous for a Catholic college to have any links with abortion advocacy groups or to present them as legitimate resources for students,” said TFP Student Action director John Ritchie. “Groups that deliberately favor the sin of abortion are not resources, but death sources.”

Rosemont College and the University of Detroit Mercy both deleted web links to Planned Parenthood earlier this year after TFP Student Action members initiated peaceful protests.
