Pope’s Prayer for June: ‘Respect for Human Life from Conception to Natural Death’

By John-Henry Westen

VATICAN CITY, May 31, 2010 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Catholics around the world have been asked by the Pope to join him in prayer for life during the month of June. Pope Benedict’s general prayer intention for June is: “That every national and trans-national institution may strive to guarantee respect for human life from conception to natural death”.

Pope, Benedict XVI has often requested the faithful to join him in prayer for life and family via monthly prayer intentions.

“How blessed we are to witness the Vicar of Christ calling the powers of this world to respect the sanctity of all human life at every moment of existence,” Human life International President, Rev. Thomas Euteneuer commented to LifeSiteNews on the Pope’s message. “I don’t have a whole lot of hope that this message will be heeded by the world’s elite, but it does inspire us to keep fighting the good fight knowing that we are not alone in our efforts.”

The HLI President added: “The message also comes at the end of the Year for Priests. May all priests be inspired by the Holy Father to take upon themselves a strong leadership role in the effort to protect life, marriage and family everywhere it is threatened.”
