Grand Jury Grills Tiller Murderer’s Bible Study Group

Tiller facility up for sale

By Kathleen Gilbert

WICHITA, Kansas, October 11, 2010 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Members of a Bible study joined by the man who murdered late-term abortionist George Tiller say have been investigated by a federal grand jury seeking to discover whether the gunman acted alone.

Two members of Scott Roeder’s Bible study group told the Kansas City Star that they and four others had been asked by the jury about whether others had been involved in Tiller’s murder in May 2009. Roeder is currently serving a life sentence after being convicted of first-degree murder for shooting Tiller to death at the latter’s Wichita church.

Tim Parks, a Bible study member and former roommate of Roeder’s, said he was suspicious of the grand jury’s questioning when he appeared before them in Kansas City about two weeks ago.

“Based on the questions they asked, they are looking into whether others were involved,” he said. “It appeared to me that they are trying to find or fabricate a conspiracy.” Another Bible study member anonymously confirmed that he had been interrogated. Neither the U.S. Department of Justice nor the FBI commented for the story.

Troy Newman of Operation Rescue told LifeSiteNews.com, however, that his group, which had been working to shut down Tiller’s clinic through peaceful means, had not been interrogated.

The Associated Press reported Friday that the abortion clinic Tiller once operated has now been put up for sale. Tiller’s family had said in June 2009, days after Tiller’s death, that the facility would not reopen.

Kansans for Life has suggested that pro-lifers purchase the building so that it could be used to commemorate the estimated 60,000 unborn children who were killed there.
