What our Critics are Saying
Dear Friends,
“Extremist”? “A radical member of the religious right”? “Hater,” “bigot,” “racist” (as a person of color myself, I always smile at that last one)?
Several pro-abortion and “progressive” think-tanks, blogs, and news sources claim LifeSiteNews is teeming with right-wing extremists, conspiring to strip away everyone’s liberties and indoctrinate society with backward thinking.
While we have many fans among life and family leaders, it is instructive to see what anti-life, anti-family activists have to say about LSN.
For example, Right Wing Watch describes us here at LSN as “anti-marriage equality activists” and says that we are out to “control the rights of women everywhere.” RH Reality Check, an online news service promoting abortion, accuses LSN of manipulating women, while some of its fans compare pro-life activists to the Taliban. Moreover, some of these sources have even referred to LifeSite as “Lifeshite.”
We are labeled as “homophobes,” “anti-choicers,” and other names which I’d rather not share with you since our policy is to avoid publishing explicitly vulgar language.
They‘re employing communist-inspired “big lie” techniques (tell a big lie often enough and people will start to believe it) by throwing false labels at their effective opponents while avoiding rational argument and facts. Their goal is to have society dismiss us by smugly boasting of their victories, casting aspersions, and labeling LifeSiteNews.
These pro-abortion blogs and think-tanks proudly gloat that recent events, such as the terribly biased decision overturning Proposition 8 in California, are “another loss in the Right’s anti-gay crusade.”
They are trying to make you believe that we are fighting for a lost cause, while we are telling you otherwise. If we were truly fighting a lost cause, why would these extreme liberals bother to pay so much attention to our news reports?
Actually, their rants tell us that we are right on target.
If we were not having an effect against the culture of death, it wouldn’t be worth the time nor the effort for these radical news sources and websites to attack us.
Rather than being intimidated, LifeSiteNews is encouraged by these attacks, and we continue delivering unique and crucial news and information on life and family issues. We are emboldened to expose even more about the threats to life, family, and the necessary foundations of a healthy and sane society.
And we are not alone in this fight. While these think-tanks, websites and activists are attempting to undermine and weaken LifeSiteNews, leaders of the largest and most revered pro-life and pro-family sources insist that our work is indispensable.
Joe Scheidler, founder and director of Pro-Life Action League, declared, “In a world dominated by a biased liberal media, the arrival of LifeSiteNews.com on the communications scene is a great boon to the pro-life and pro-family cause.”
Rabbi Yehuda Levin, spokesman for the Union of Orthodox Rabbis of the U.S. and Canada, stated that “of all the media that I’ve come across in my thirty years of dealing with the moral issues, no one is more on target, no one is more open with the facts than LifeSiteNews.”
These praises are only two of very many examples of the strong, affirming support that we consistently receive from leaders in the Culture of Life.
Sure, there have been several disturbing headlines over the summer, but remember that we’re engaged in a war…a real culture war. Yet, we must look ahead to a future full of hope. The pro-life and pro-family movements have not and will not be defeated, and your support can help us prove that.
