PRIME MINISTER ANNOUNCES LIBERAL PARTY IS PRO-ABORTION
OTTAWA, Mar 24 (LSN.ca) - In his main address to the Liberal Party convention on March 17, Prime Minister Jean Chretien indicated that his party, the Liberal Party of Canada, was pro- abortion. In an all out attack against his opponents on the right, Chretien told 2,600 delegates that "Canadians do not want a right-wing party in this country. They do not want a party that does not support women's right to choose; that supports the National Rifle Association against gun control." (The National Rifle Association is a U.S. group. It does not have a Canadian branch. Canada has for years had far stricter gun controls than the U.S.)
