ALLIANCE LEADERSHIP HOPEFUL GRANT HILL WOULD ALLOW REFERENDUM ON ABORTION
OTTAWA, January 14, 2002 (LSN.ca) - Canadian Alliance MP Grant Hill, who is vying for the leadership of the Party, was misquoted in the National Post as being against a referendum on abortion. Emma Dillon, press secretary for Mr. Hill told LifeSite that Mr. Hill was asked if he would promote a referendum on abortion to which he responded "I would not." However, the question as printed in the Post was "As prime minister, would you permit or propose a national referendum on abortion?"
Dylan told LifeSite, "Mr. Hill would permit a referendum but would not promote one. He would not stand in the way of the democratic process."
