FAITHFUL PRIESTS RECEIVE THREAT LETTER DUE TO STAND AGAINST HOMOSEUXALITY

NICHOLASVILLE, Kentucky, October 7, 2002 (LSN.ca) - Three conservative Catholic priests in the Diocese of Lexington have received threats to "immediately cease and desist from your persecution and outing of gay priests in the diocese," reports the Lexington Herald-Leader newspaper.

Letters purporting to be from the "Gay Priests Association" (although no such organization is known to exist locally) accuse the priests of "wounding and slandering" the diocese, its homosexual priests, and its former bishop. Their tone is severe enough that police regard the letters as a case of "terroristic threatening."

The letters were read out to astonished parishioners. "So many people didn't believe there was a gay culture throughout the priesthood and here it is right here," Bush told worshipers at one Mass. "This is how far we've ... degenerated."

Regarding homosexual acts, one of the priests, Father John Dane, says: "It's a sin and it's enough to keep someone out of heaven. ... It's our job to warn people."
