MARYLAND HOUSE PASSES BILL ALLOWING ABORTIFACIENT MORNING AFTER PILL OVER THE COUNTER

BALTIMORE, March 25, 2003 (LifeSiteNews.com) - The Maryland House narrowly passed a bill Monday to allow abortifacient morning after pills (MAP) to be available over-the-counter. The 71-66 vote passed mainly on disinformation suggesting that the pills "prevent" unplanned pregnancies and thus prevent abortions. However, the pills are known to cause early abortions by stopping the embryo from implanting in the mother's uterus.

Del. John Adams Hurson, the chairman of the House Health and Governmental Operations Committee, supported the measure saying that 27 countries and three other states - Alaska, Washington, and California already permitted over-the-counter access to MAP.

A similar bill is before the Senate Health Committee.
