FIJI ABORTIONIST INVESTIGATED IN DEATH OF WOMAN FOLLOWING ABORTION

SUVA, March 25, 2003 (LifeSiteNews.com) - A prominent doctor in Suva is in police custody, accused of having carried out an abortion that was fatal for the mother as well as the unborn child. According to reports, the doctor performed the abortion on a young university student on Friday night and left her unattended for the night, during which she died.

"All I can tell you at the moment is the doctor is in custody and is still being questioned. No other details can be released at the moment," said Acting Police Commissioner Sada Nand.
