Latest Poll Shows US Opposition to Same-Sex "Marriage" at 68%
WASHINGTON, April 4, 2005 (LifeSiteNews.com) - A recent poll found that opposition to same-sex "marriage" by Americans has reached a high at 68 percent, according to results of a CNN/USA Today/Gallup poll.
In addition, 57 percent favoured a constitutional amendment enshrining marriage as "between a man and a woman." In a similar poll last year, only 55 percent opposed same-sex "marriage,' while only 48 percent supported a constitutional amendment. Gallup conducted the national survey of 443 adults March 18 to 20.
Kansans go to the polls Tuesday to vote on a state constitutional amendment to protect marriage as the union of one man and one woman. It is expected the state will approve the amendment, which will make Kansas the eighteenth state to protect marriage in their state constitutions.
"In an age when judicial tyrants brush aside laws they don't like, Kansans have a great opportunity to put marriage out of the reach of the judges," said Robert Knight, director of Concerned Women for America's Culture & Family Institute. "No court-or legislature, for that matter-should be allowed to destroy marriage by radically redefining it to suit homosexual activists."
