KELOWNA, B.C., July 7, 2008 (LifeSiteNews.com) - The Kelowna Right to Life Society is organizing a public demonstration protesting abortion and the awarding of the Order of Canada to Henry Morgentaler.

The demonstration will feature a display with large, graphic images of aborted babies accompanied by the messages "abortion kills children,"  "abortion: is this what you mean" and "Order of Canada?! For this!?"

"If Canada chooses to honour Morgentaler for his handy work, we choose to show people exactly what he does to earn that honour," Marlon Bartram, Executive Director of Kelowna Right to Life stated. He added, "We believe Canada will not reject abortion until Canada sees abortion; and that's what this demonstration is about."

The event will take place next Saturday, July 12th at 10:30 am at the corner of Harvey Avenue and Richter Street in Kelowna.

The Kelowna Right to Life Society has also had a proclamation seeking the recognition of September 28 to October 4 as Protect Human Life Week signed by Mayor Sharon Shepard of Kelowna.

The proclamation states, "It is the intention of this proclamation to promote respect and protection to all human life, especially the infirm, the aged, the handicapped, and the unborn."

According to Kelowna Capital News, Bartram said the week will help spread awareness of the sanctity of all stages of life.

"As an organization we're trying to bring the issue of abortion back up to the surface of public discourse," he said. "We just want to make the public aware that life is sacred from the moment of conception to the moment of natural death and using death to solve life's difficult circumstances or to end somebody's suffering is always morally wrong."
