VANCOUVER, Jan 18 (LSN) Pro-family and child rights groups reacted with horror to Friday’s news that BC Supreme Court Justice Duncan Shaw had struck down the parts of the Canadian Criminal code which make possession of child pornography a crime. Shaw admitted that children are abused in the making of child pornography and left in place laws against the selling and distribution of such material. However, Professor Neil Boyd, who teaches criminology at Simon Fraser University, said “The ruling essentially, while it does not touch distribution, creates a safe marketplace for those who would peddle such material.” According to Saturday’s National Post, Boyd believes Shaw’s ruling will be successfully appealed. Pro-family forces are urging North Americans to become familiar with the nefarious roots of the belief that child porn is of little consequence. Research by American zoologist Alfred Kinsey in the 1950’s used the “research” of a serial pedophile to “prove” that children are sexually active from birth and that homosexuality, promiscuity, masturbation and sex education are all natural and beneficial.
