OTTAWA, June 4 (LSN) - Next Tuesday homosexual and euthanasia activist NDP MP Svend Robinson will present a 1,000 name petition in parliament requesting the removal of the reference to God in the preamble of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms. The Charter currently reads: “Canada is founded upon principles that recognize the supremacy of God.” Behind the move are atheists, many of whom are involved with the Humanist Association of Canada, whose most infamous board member is abortionist Henry Morgentaler. Humanists also complain of having the reference to God in the national anthem and the practice of swearing in court using a Bible. The atheist group plans a demonstration on Parliament Hill to coincide with Robinson’s presentation of their petition.
