TORONTO, May 27 (LSN) - Cardinal Aloysius Ambrozic issued a press release yesterday concerning the Supreme Court of Canada decision regarding spousal benefits for practicing homosexuals. The Archbishop of the Toronto Archdiocese said that the ruling “may serve to undermine our traditional understanding of marriage and family, and the nature of spousal and conjugal relationships.” The cardinal also commented that the while the Church teaches that homosexuals must not be subject to unjust discrimination, this ruling “cannot be good because the decision is based on flawed philosophical, theological and biological premises.”“The traditional understanding common to all the world’s great religions is that marriage is a sanctified union of a man and a woman who have joined together in love and are called to transmit life,” he said. “They and their children constitute the family - the original cell of social life.” For the Toronto Star story on this issue see: http://www.canada.com/newscafe/getcp.asp?bk=national&sk=990527/n052711.html
