Phony “Catholic” Group’s Attempt To Derail Pro-Life Funding Quashed TORONTO, Oct 18 (LSN.ca) - An effort by the fraudulent organization “Catholics for a Free Choice” (CFFC) to have the Toronto Catholic School Board stop raising money for a pro-life group which aids women in crisis pregnancies, has failed. As LifeSite reported last week, Kathleen Howes of CFFC asked for a hearing from the board under her personal name to contest the replacement of the UNICEF fundraiser with a fundraiser for Aid To Women. The Board decided in favour of Aid to Women three years ago after it was presented evidence showing that UNICEF supports abortion. At the board’s meeting Friday the chair announced that the CFFC complaint would be held in private session since the board did not wish to provide a public platform for the defamation of a group by an individual. Expressing the kind of militant hostility and arrogant disdain social conservatives have come to expect from privileged feminists, Howes stood up in the meeting and began yelling, even calling Aid to Women a “vile anti-abortion group.” She refused repeated requests by the chair to be quiet, so security had to be called in to have her removed. When the board met privately to discuss the issue, the participants were informed that Howes no longer wished to make her presentation. Interim writer Frank Kennedy, and Joanne Dieleman represented Aid to Women at the meeting. The Archdiocese of Toronto had sent Fr. Tom Lynch and Suzanne Scorzone to speak on behalf of Aid to Women. The board sent a letter out to all its schools reaffirming its support for the organization.
