OTTAWA, Mar 24 (LSN.ca) - In his main address to the Liberal Party convention on March 17,  Prime Minister Jean Chretien indicated that his party, the Liberal Party of Canada, was pro-  abortion. In an all out attack against his opponents on the right, Chretien told 2,600 delegates that “Canadians do not want a right-wing party in this country. They do not want a party that does not support women’s right to choose; that supports the National Rifle Association against gun control.” (The National Rifle Association is a U.S. group. It does not have a Canadian branch. Canada has for years had far stricter gun controls than the U.S.)  To comment to the PM on his speech write:  pm@pm.gc.ca   See the coverage of his speech on the Liberal web site at:  http://www.liberal.ca/biennial2000/pmaddress-e.htm
