ATLANTA, August 14, 2002 (LSN.ca) - CNN has released the full transcript of the secret interview with the American couple collaborating with Italian Dr. Panos Zavos to create the world’s first cloned baby. Apart from claiming that their act is the will of God, as LifeSite reported yesterday, the couple also said they would resort to abortion to avoid abnormality. The husband told CNN: “We’re not going to give birth to a monster or an abnormal child. If there is serious abnormality, absolutely we will—and Dr. Zavos concurs that we will -abort.” Reacting to the interviewer’s suggestion that some people may take offence to the abortion, the wife - who will be donating her DNA to create the clone - said: “Well, at least they’ll have stem cells to possibly help improve someone’s life who is having a problem.”
