BUFFALO, March 15, 2002 (LSN.ca) - During a talk in Buffalo Wednesday, U.S. Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia emphasized that there is no constitutional right to abortion. “My votes in abortion cases have nothing to do with my pro-life views,” Scalia said. “They have to do with the text of the Constitution. And there is nothing, nothing in the Constitution that guarantees the right to an abortion.”

Buffalo News reports that Scalia admitted that the Constitution also did not ban abortion, and indicated the issue ultimately should be decided by a constitutional amendment. Of the Constitution he said, “It says what it says, and it ought not to be twisted.”
