OTTAWA, November 18, 2002 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Leading bureaucrats of the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (CCCB) organization have once again embroiled the Catholic Church in Canada in a highly questionable economic/social movement. Bishop Jean Gagnon, chair of the Social Affairs Commission of the CCCB and Msgr. Peter Schonenbach, the general secretary, have signed onto a declaration calling for the immediate ratification of the Kyoto Protocol by Canada.

During 2000-2001 the bishops’ organization caused a scandal over its emphatic support for the international pro-abortion, pro-gay, radical feminist March of Women project. Its social justice agency, Development and Peace, was the main force behind this and has in the past also been involved in many other questionable programs from a Christian moral perspective.

Some of the other Kyoto declaration co-signers are:  -  the leftist Jesuit Centre for Faith and Justice   and pro-abortion, pro-gay supporting Canadians such as:  -

pseudo scientist and de-population advocate David Suzuki -  anti-Christians Farley Mowat and Pierre Burton -  Marxist leaning Bruce Cockburn -  intensely feminist writers Margaret Atwood and June Callwood -  abortion advocacy fundraising music groups Barenaked Ladies and the Tragically Hip.  -  Prominent socialist abortion zealots Stephen Lewis, Jack Layton and Judy Rebick -  Henry Morgentaler lawyer Clayton Ruby   The list is largely a who’s who of the Canadian leftist, pro-abortion, sexual liberation establishment.  The de-population supportive Sierra Club organized the signing event. The Kyoto protocol has been the cause of intense controversy with many prominent scientists on both sides of the issue and uncertainty as to whether the protocol will make any significant difference to the supposed “global warming problem”. It is understood by many to be an instrument for forcing international economic and social change towards the establishment of a new world order.  See the declaration and list of all signers at http://www.sierraclub.ca/national/climate/leaders-statement-kyoto.html See article “Church leaders on List of Kyoto Supporters”  http://www.wcr.ab.ca/news/2002/1118/kyoto111802.shtml KYOTO WILL CEATE ECONOMIC, BUREAUCRATIC BOONDOGLE http://www.lifesite.net/ldn/2002/sep/020912a.html DEVELOPMENT AND PEACE DEFENDS ADS ON PRO-ABORTION E-MAG http://www.lifesite.net/ldn/2002/sep/02091603.html See LifeSite’s March of Women page http://www.lifesite.net/clc/womens_march/
