VANCOUVER, February 7, 2003 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Reverend Timothy Cooke, pastor of St. Martin’s Church has officially quit his position over renegade Bishop Michael Ingham’s decision to sanction homosexual unions. Cooke is on his way to a posting in Switzerland. St. Martin’s is one of 8 parishes in the New Westminster Diocese which are protesting the decision to bless homosexual unions by withholding funds to the synod.
“I resigned not so much because I would have to perform the same-sex union as much as the bishop and the synod are presuming to sit in judgment over scripture and Christian tradition, and also to unilaterally overthrow the consensus of the global Anglican communion,” said Cooke.
