NEW YORK, January 8, 2002 (LifeSiteNews.com) - A group that pays drug addicts and alcoholics $200 each to undergo sterilization is under attack by “liberal activist groups” and the healthcare establishment, reports the Washington Times - because it appears to prey on black clients. The group, known as Children Requiring a Caring Kommunity (CRACK), or Project Prevention, offers cash for sterilization, long-term birth control and vasectomies. The group’s philosophy is that, “It is better for a child not to be born than to suffer the physical and psychological damage inherited from addicted parents.” Asia Tepper, 27, who represents CRACK in New York, says, “Nobody wants to see a 2-day-old baby left in hospital without a name,” Mrs. Tepper said. “I don’t know one taxpayer who will say, ‘Let’s support a crack baby for the next two years.’ We’re targeting people who don’t want to have children.” For Washington Times coverage see: http://www.washingtontimes.com/national/20030108-97779848.htm
