WASHINGTON, Aug 1 (LSN.ca) - Dignity, a group calling itself Catholic, which is often recommended by unwitting Church officials as a positive resource for those struggling with homosexuality, has once again exposed itself as anti-Catholic. On July 12, Dignity/USA put out a press release denouncing Pope John Paul II for the comments he made after homosexual activists stormed Rome for World Gay Pride in July.
Mary Louise Cervone, Dignity/USA President said the Pope’s comments were “incredibly unchristian” and said it was “really sad” that the pope was “speaking so hatefully.” Marianne Duddy, Dignity/USA Executive Director, added “This is one instance where he does not speak for the whole Church, or for God.”
Dignity’s newsletter notes that the group plans to present a session in favour of same-sex marriage at the Call To Action 2000 conference to be held in Milwaukee, WI on November 3-5.
