Dear Friends

Today we are embarking on the most ambitious fundraising campaign in the history of LifeSiteNews.

Because 2009 has seen the abortion issue take front and center stage to a degree that in some ways is greater than I have seen in my 30 years involvement with the pro-life movement, there has never before been a greater need for our uncompromising and TRUTHFUL reporting.

In light of this, we have made new additions to our reporting and administrative teams over the year to accommodate the heavier workload. Thanks in large part to these additions we have developed an even higher level of journalistic excellence. Many readers have commented on the fact that the writing quality and investigative content of our reports have become noticeably more impressive this year.

But there has naturally been an increase in our costs to make these improvements. To cover our increased expenses for 2009, we are in need of at least $100,000 in donations by Dec 31.

While we call this a goal, it's not really - it's simply a necessity.

And we know it is possible, but only if many of you contribute - especially those who read LifeSiteNews regularly but have never sent a donation in the past. If you are reading LSN reports and appreciate them - we need your support to continue to provide this unique service to you.

To help you and all of our donors visualize the feasibility of our Christmas campaign's lofty goal, we have set up a suggested campaign donations chart, which will be regularly updated.  As that donations page shows, we need only about 1400 of our readers to donate during this campaign - a tiny fraction of our daily readership.

Just as LSN itself is the sum result of the unified efforts of staff and supporters, this $100,000 goal will also be met thanks only to the unified efforts of our readers.

Keep in mind that the $100,000 goal is just so that we can meet our immediate needs. There are many additional improvements and new projects for which there is a critical need, and these require financial support even above and beyond the goal for this campaign.

Think of how your donation will help thousands of life and family advocates and leaders in 2010 receive crucial news that they would get from no other source. So many of those who are working tirelessly to foster a Culture of Life and Traditional Family are relying upon LifeSiteNews - and now we are relying upon you.

Will you help us?

Our work to stop the murder of innocent lives and protect the family is truly a David vs Goliath battle. LifeSiteNews and others fighting for what are by far the greatest social justice issues of our day operate on relatively minuscule budgets compared to those, such as Planned Parenthood, who advocate and profit from abortion.

We don't need the vast resources that our opponents have.  But we do need more than we are currently operating with. I encourage you to once again read the October 29th article "Life vs Death: Beggars vs Giants", which explains that need.

LifeSiteNews still lacks major benefactors to provide us with the means to carry out this mission to its fullest - a mission that has PROVEN to be one of the most effective tools for changing the culture. We are therefore relying upon our everyday readers to give as generously as they can - to carry the burden with us, for the sake of all that we hold most dear - life, family and the culture and freedoms that protect and nurture them.

Please help us with an online, phone or mail donation today.

Together we stand so that truth may reign and a new culture of respect for the innate dignity of every human being may be created.
