Prominent Canadian Journalist Calls for Imposed Planetary One-Child Policy
Diane Francis's comments on overpopulation are misguided and dangerous. I am a mother of five. I am not a Baby Boomer and will suffer the fallout of our welfare state. As a health-care provider, I have experienced firsthand the frustration of the aged who have their affairs directed by the state because they have no children. With tears in their eyes, they have begged me to stand up for the real financial needs for rehabilitation. Meanwhile the "power of attorney" was purchasing token items (because money had to be spent) without consulting my patient directly.
The idea that Ms. Francis could uphold the one-child policy is revolting. My motherly heart goes out to each woman who has been forced to have abortions or sterilizations. Such tremendous violation of one's freedom can not be upheld as a utopian goal. It seems the world has lost its real focus: people are more important than things.

The 15 Catholic Senators Who Nixed Nelson
I have seen critical letters to LSN asking why the Catholic Church does not "discipline" catholic politicians who scandalize the faith, and others which similarly question Church honesty for lack of catholic integrity in dealing with public abortion and homosexuality among other issues.
First, it is clear those critics are either not (practicing) catholics or not catholic at all. Second, the distinction should be made to all that the "Church" does not and cannot change or neglect her teaching concerning faith and morals even if those in the Church are lax in the practice of the faith, both in the laity and hierarchy. And last, even though the Church can never fail it is also clear that many if not most of her members have failed, and that is most likely the true third secret of Fatima…apostasy. It's time the Holy Father finally published the truth, which is the real reason today for catholic decline in the world today.

The Virgin Mary, Check Norris and Obama
Close to Christmas, which commemorates the birth of Jesus, actor Chuck Norris has leashed out against Obama’s health reform. In a column published by World Net Daily entitled “What if Mother Mary had Obamacare?” Norris states: Mary, as a poor adolescent would have received help and assistance through Family Planning in order to stop her pregnancy. Therefore, Baby Jesus would not have been born and…“what then would have been the fate of the world ?” He also regrets Obama’s policy in favour of abortion when so many Americans , he says, are against abortion. In the USA the pro-life tendency has reached its highest peak in decades in 2009. Abortion is becoming increasingly unacceptable.

Christmas Commercialism Combated by "Advent Conspiracy" Movement
What a great idea!
I looked under the Christmas tree one year and the amount of money which had been spent, I thought, was obscene.
So the next year, an edict was given: "You can only spend $1 per person. If you want to get together, that is fine too."
It is surprising, there are things out there. It needs a little ingenuity, looking for sales etc., but it worked. There was so much fun.
How many of you remember what you got last Christmas?

Re: LSN Donations
Dear LSN,
Many times throughout the year, popular charities collect billions of dollars from generous donators, from various levels of government and even from our Churches. Our governments give them 'charity status' no matter how much they squander trusted funds with huge salaries, large, costly offices and advertising.
After researching hundreds of these 'charities' through Revenue Canada and the US Internal Revenue Service for several years, I have personally made up my mind to give directly to pro-life organizations who, in Canada, can't obtain charity status yet they offer the best bang for my dollar. Also, I don't have to wonder if they're passing my money on to organizations that can't be trusted.
It's an absolute shame that our Churches couldn't accept funds, ear-marked specifically for pro-life organizations like LSN, and add the amount to our regular church offering at years end. The usual charities get enough money from our naive public. It's time to feed our brothers and sister who make money the old-fashioned way - they earn it!
