The "Catholic" Health Association and its always arrogantly self-assured (no matter what the facts) CEO Sr. Carol Keehan clearly have an agenda all their own, apart from the Church. The question to ask is why is this woman constantly allowed to throw her pseudo Catholic organization's weight around like this? Where is the accountability mechanism? This is scandal in the Church once again.

Like a true "progressive" Keehan feels she knows much better than the bishops, the pro-life movement and even the majority of the US public what is really best and must be imposed on the nation for its own good. God save us from these proud, power addicted people who abuse their religious positions.

My editorial "Thugs in Washington" (http://www.lifesitenews.com/ldn/2010/mar/10031217.html) has been updated with a number of new links and other information that firm up the case. It is revealing that Sr. Keehan is so comfortable working with these people. Like them, she seems to genuinely relish thumbing her nose at all the good guys, including the nation's Catholic bishops.

The US bishops, however, are partly to blame for the current health care dilemma and the distorted influence of people like Keehan and the CHA. Deal Hudson explains that, although the USCCB has taken some praiseworthy actions recently, it has not been nearly enough as it could have and should have been. Hence the dangerous situation this week.

It does get tiring having to report on Archbishop Fisichella's outrageous defense of his clearly indefensible actions on "the Recife affair." What is so wrong with just saying "sorry, I erred" - especially from an archbishop of the Church. This prolonged public scandal has become especially serious and harmful for the Church and the pro-life movement.
