PHILADELPHIA, PA, June 4, 2014 (LifeSiteNews.com) – The true crime film about the life of late-term abortionist Kermit Gosnell just added another chapter.

Gosnell's 22-year-old son was shot multiple times this morning after breaking into a home in an attempted robbery, police say.

Barron Alexander reportedly broke into a row house in the West Philadelphia neighborhood of Mantua after 5 a.m. Eastern time and began stealing electronic items, such as gaming consoles. He then went upstairs, where two of the apartment's three college-aged residents woke up and physically resisted him.

The fight spilled back downstairs, and one of the three threatened Alexander with a bayonet, according to the Philadelphia Daily News. Police Captain John Przepiorka told NBC 10, “A struggle started at that point, [and] the resident screamed for help.” Przepiorka said the man's roommate had a gun.

At around 7 a.m., the second resident shot Gosnell's son in the back and knee. Alexander walked out of the apartment, dropping his loot on the way, but collapsed in a pool of his own blood.

“I looked out my window and there was a guy on the ground, bleeding out,” their neighbor, Amanda Nguyen, told the local CBS affiliate.

The third roommate says he slept through the shooting.

It is not known if Alexander was armed, but WPVI-TV reports that police found a folding knife discarded on the steps that Alexander stumbled down – just two doors from the home where he lived, a home owned by Kermit Gosnell.

Barron Alexander, who changed his name last year after his father's conviction on multiple charges of killing newborns, was rushed to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. As of this writing, he remains listed in critical but stable condition.

Alexander is currently under guard. If he recovers, he will face multiple charges of robbery and receiving stolen property, according to law enforcement.

Last May, Kermit Gosnell was condemned to serve three life sentences in jail for murdering newborns after being convicted by an overwhelmingly “pro-choice” jury. Although prosecutors could only convince the jury that Gosnell murdered three newborns by “snipping” their spinal cords with scissors after their birth, employees at his West Philadelphia “house of horrors” said the gruesome procedure took place “hundreds” of times.

In addition to the life terms, Gosnell was later sentenced to 30 years in prison for drug charges after pleading guilty to running a “pill mill,” an illegal trade that Gosnell contended helped the poor and “probably lowered the crime rate.”

The younger Gosnell petitioned to change his surname, telling the court, “My last name stopped me from getting an internship.”

Barron Alexander's mother, Pearl Gosnell, entered a guilty plea in December 2011 to charges of performing abortion after 24 weeks, conspiracy, criminal conspiracy, and corrupt organization because of her association with the West Philadelphia Women's Medical Society. She later called her husband “cowardly.”
