WASHINGTON, D.C., May 23, 2011 (LifeSiteNews.com) – A motion has been filed to allow additional information in the case challenging the use of U.S. taxpayer monies to fund research that requires the destruction of embryonic human life.

David Prentice of the Family Research Council reported last week that the motion filed on Wednesday in federal court was agreed upon by both sides, unlike a similar motion filed May 9, which the Department of Justice had opposed.

U.S. District Judge Royce Lamberth last August ordered the government to halt implementation of new guidelines that would set in motion publicly-funded embryonic stem cell research at the National Institutes for Health.

When Lamberth resisted the Obama administration’s request to reverse the injunction, defendants turned to the U.S. Court of Appeals in the District of Columbia, which vacated the order on April 29. The case itself will be resolved under Judge Lamberth.

If the motion is approved, both parties will have until June 24 to provide up to 10 more pages of information, according to Prentice.
