AUSTIN, February 15, 2002 (LSN.ca) – Researchers at the Texas A & M University have cloned the first domestic cat. The two-month-old kitten named Cc: is the only surviving animal of 87 kitten embryos created by cloning.

The experiment published in the Nature journal reports that the 87 cloned embryos were transferred into eight recipients, resulting in one failed pregnancy and one live clone. “This is comparable to the success rates obtained for other cloned species” says the report.
