BY LifeSiteNews.com OTTAWA, May 27, 2002 (LSN.ca) - Supreme Court Justice L’Heureux-Dubé will retire from the Supreme Court July 1.  The Supreme Court issued a release on her retirement noting that there will be a ceremony to mark L’Heureux-Dubé‘s departure on June 10.  Pro-life Canadians will also be celebrating, not so much the career but the end of it. Many social conservatives in Canada have noted that Justice L’Heureux-Dubé has been ideological in her judgments, particularly on family issues and homosexuality.  Her personal bias was not concealed.  In October LifeSite reported that she was among the contributors to a pro-homosexual marriage book called “Legal Recognition of Same-Sex Partnerships: A Study of National, European and International Law”.  Moreover, in October 1999 L’Heureux-Dube addressed a conference on same-sex benefits at Queen’s University in Kingston. “In failing to recognize and support partnerships, traditional and otherwise, are we not doing violence to the fabric of our community?” asked L’Heureux-Dube in her keynote speech.  Unfortunately, the Prime Minister, who has shown increasing hostility towards moral principles, is likely to use his dictatorial powers to impose another extreme feminist on the court to replace L’Heureux-Dubé.
