Tristan Emmanuel, executive director of Equipping Christians for the Public Square Centre, called on Prime Minister Paul Martin to follow the example of Pope John Paul II, who was buried yesterday morning.Rev. Emmanuel exhorted the Prime Minister by writing “You’ve said some very wonderful things about the late great Pope John Paul II. And you are very right he was a great leader for freedom, but also for the family. If you really, truly, respect Pope John Paul II, then I can think of no better way for you to pay your last respects then to listen to his instructions on the nature of marriage and forsake Bill C-38.”On Friday Paul MartinÂagain reiterated his admiration for the deceased Pontiff while avoiding questions of government scandals. With the Liberal Government already facing the huge Adscam scandal Rev. Emmanuel’s words warning the Prime Minister of social upheaval surrounding same-sex marriage are especially noteworthy. In his speech Rev. Emmanuel said “Canadians have already endured more than a decade of arrogance and scandal under your predecessor, Jean Chrétien.
