BY LifeSiteNews.com By Gudrun SchultzJERUSALEM, Israel, November 22, 2006 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Ministers and members of the Knesset expressed dismay at yesterday’s decision by the High Court of Justice to grant marital recognition to same-sex couples “married” outside the country, Ynet News reported today.Knesset member Yitzhak Cohen said in response to the ruling, “The High Court of Justice just removed the last mezuzah from its doors.”“Marriage is only between man and woman in accordance with Jewish law. Any other hybrid is like a bond between an animal, tree or rock to a person. Thanks to the court, the dam protecting the only Jewish state in the world has been broken, and it will invite a black caped anti-Jewish flood.”MK Meir Porush with the United Torah Judaism called for the protest resignation of Justice Elyakim Rubinstein, the only High Court Judge to oppose the ruling. Six of the seven judges were in favour of the final decision. Former Chief Justice Aharon Barak, who recently retired and is completing a three-month grace period in which he can write rulings on previous cases he heard, headed up the majority decision, Arutz Sheva reported.MK Moshe Gafni, with the United Torah Judaism, said he will propose a private bill if it’s possible to render the decision moot by legislature. “Barak is leaving us a farewell gift tantamount to a destruction of the family unit,” Gafni said. “Any sane person is shocked by the ruling.
