BY LifeSiteNews.com By Gudrun SchultzJERUSALEM, Israel, September 19, 2006 (LifeSiteNews.com) - An ongoing battle over homosexual pride demonstrations in the city of Jerusalem came to an end today, after the controversial Gay Pride parade was rescheduled for November 10, the Jerusalem Post reported.After talks lasting three hours between the Jerusalem Police, State Prosecution, the Jerusalem Municipality and homosexual activist groups, Jerusalem police agreed to provide security to the event.As well, the Jerusalem Municipality bowed to a request by Supreme Court President Dorit Beinisch to coordinate preliminary arrangements with event organizers. The agreement forestalls a threatened suit against the municipality by members of Open House, Israel national news Arutz Sheva reported.  The parade was originally scheduled to take place during August as part of World Pride 2006, a week-long homosexual celebration strenuously opposed by religious leaders in Jerusalem and world wide. When the parade was canceled, with security issues relating to the hostilities between Israel and Lebanon cited as the official reason, organizers attempted to reschedule for September 21, just days before the beginning of the Jewish holy days of Rosh Hashana, Yom Kippur and Succot.Jerusalem police again denied permission, saying it was too provocative to hold the controversial event so close to the holy days. Leaders in the Jewish community expressed offense at the selected date, saying it was a deliberate affront to faithful Jews in the city.
