BY LifeSiteNews.com KELOWNA, BC, June 21 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Kelowna Mayor Walter Gray has again refused to proclaim gay and lesbian pride week, noting that he has stopped all proclamations after a March human rights tribunal decision found him guilty of “discrimination” for not proclaiming homosexual pride. Gray notes that the tribunal ruling said he must not treat homosexual activists differently and thus he is complying with the ruling by not issuing any proclamations. However, homosexual activists and their supporters in the BC government are not satisfied. Mary-Woo Sims, the head of BC’s Human Rights Commission reproached Gray saying: “It’s really unfortunate that a public official has chosen to not respect a BC Human Rights Tribunal ruling.” She called his refusal to make any proclamations “a very cynical approach” (Capital News, June 21, 2000).  Interestingly, the pressure to proclaim the event now requires homosexuals to demand superior and special rights for themselves.
