He said that he would not allow a woman’s charter right to abortion to be taken away.“There is no charter right to abortion,” said Jim Hughes, National President of Campaign Life Coalition (CLC) “When the Supreme Court of Canada, that non-elected body which Paul Martin wants to rule Canada, struck down the abortion law in 1988, they left us in a state of lawlessness. There is no right to abortion at all, let alone a charter right. The Judges said at that time that Parliament had a duty to legislate some protection for the child in the womb. Martin commented on protecting the rights of minorities when he referred to women seeking to kill their child in the womb.
