BY LifeSiteNews.com MADRID, January 3, 2004 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Spain’s Socialist-led cabinet approved a same-sex “marriage” bill Friday, moving the largely Catholic country one step closer to its full legalization.  The measure would enshrine rights to “married” same-sex couples normally reserved for heterosexual spouses, such as the adoption of children, pension benefits and inheritance rights.  Socialist Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero, besides pushing to legalize same-sex “marriage,” has already legalized embryonic stem cell research, while also proposing easier access to abortion.
