PHILADELPHIA, April 17, 2013 (LifeSiteNews.com) – As part of Wednesday’s Gosnell Tweetfest, the second such event in the past week, organizers of the event are urging pro-lifers to direct Gosnell-related Tweets and other social media posts to celebrities and pastors.

The goal of the Tweetfest is to increase awareness about abortionist Kermit Gosnell’s trial, and about the horrors of abortion in general. Participants are being asked to flood social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter with posts and information about Kermit Gosnell.

The first Tweetfest, which was held last Friday, saw some 600,000 Gosnell-related tweets sent in a single day, an astonishing number that resulted in numerous mainstream media outlets taking notice of the trial for the first time.

Tweetfest organizer Bryan Kemper noted that many celebrities who are on Twitter have extremely large followings. Last week, pro-life celebrity Patricia Heaton tweeted about the Gosnell trial, and that tweet was re-tweeted over 600 times, he said.

“We want to cause some snowball effects of people looking into this just like when Anderson Cooper did last week. When he did, he was horrified,” said Kemper.

Celebrities being targeted by today’s Tweetfest include Justin Bieber, who has said in the past that he doesn’t believe in abortion, Gwen Stefani, Chuck Norris, and others.

Many of these celebrities “are conservative or even pro-life,” said Kemper, “and we want to see if they comment if that will cause their followers to also comment or look into Gosnell.”

The Tweetfest is also targeting a number of high-profile Christian pastors, including Rick Warren and John Piper.

So far, more than 1,800 people have said that they will join today’s Tweetfest, and another 26,000 have been invited to attend.

As part of today’s event, the organizers have launched a website, called whoisgosnell.com. It includes tons of information about Gosnell that pro-life activists can use as the basis for their social media posts.

Already this morning #Gosnell has appeared in the top ten list of trending topics on Twitter.

“It's a pretty big deal that not only have we been able to trend Gosnell for a second time, but also that it was so early into the tweetfest,” co-organizer Andy Moore of AbortionWiki told LifeSiteNews.com. “This is a very positive sign as we progress through the day.”

Last Friday, #Gosnell spent most of the day sitting at the very top of trending topics. Organizers are hoping to repeat that feat today.
