May 6, 2014 (LifeSiteNews.com) – As an honor student at a reputable state university, “Hailey” was on the fast track to attend medical school and achieve her lifelong dream of becoming a doctor. But getting pregnant as an undergrad turned Hailey’s world upside-down. As a result, Hailey searched the Internet for an abortion clinic near campus where she could discreetly “get rid of her problem.”

Every day in America, thousands of Internet searches are conducted for the word abortion or abortion-related terms. In fact, the Internet has become the number one place where women facing crisis pregnancies will seek help. With this in mind, Online for Life, a pro-life nonprofit organization, uses innovative Internet marketing technology to connect with women like Hailey and helps connect them with a local life-affirming pregnancy center.

Online for Life directed Hailey to a life-affirming pregnancy center near the university’s campus, and she called to make an appointment. During that appointment, compassionate volunteers cared for Hailey and educated her so she could make a fully informed decision regarding her pregnancy. While Hailey wept over her dream of becoming a doctor, which now seemed way out of reach, she also talked through her fears about telling her parents and boyfriend about the pregnancy.

When Hailey left the pregnancy center that day, she felt comforted and encouraged for the first time since she’d taken the pregnancy test. But she was still uncertain about choosing life for her unborn child, and the center inexplicably lost contact with Hailey for several weeks afterward.

Unbeknownst to the pregnancy center staff, their life-affirming words continued to echo in Hailey’s mind. And after weeks of praying for Hailey and hoping for the best, the staff finally received an email from her that contained some incredible news…Hailey had decided to choose life!

Within a few weeks of her appointment, Hailey had finally mustered the courage to go home and tell her parents about her pregnancy. They took it much better than she expected. In fact, though they were disappointed about this unexpected turn of events, her pregnancy seems to have brought them even closer together. Hailey’s mother now calls and checks in on her daily, and her father has also shown support.

As for Hailey’s boyfriend…he is supportive, is working hard to save up for the baby, and is always there when Hailey needs someone to talk to. Even Hailey’s college friends have come alongside her as she makes plans for her baby.

While she knows pursuing her dream of becoming a doctor will be more difficult now, it no longer feels completely out of reach.

Online for Life cherishes stories like Hailey’s. Not only does it illustrate the power of love and support in helping a young, vulnerable woman choose life, but it also shows that hope and joy can be found even in the midst of an unexpected crisis. Looking back, Hailey sees how the collaborative system of support between Online for Life and the life-affirming pregnancy center helped save her child’s life.

As she plans for the birth of her child and her future, Hailey is already considering ways to give back to those who helped save her child.

Stories like Hailey’s are made possible through the cooperative efforts that exist within the pro-life movement. Because organizations like Online for Life come alongside life-affirming pregnancy centers nationwide, women facing unplanned pregnancies are given hope even in the midst of their crisis. To date, over 1,800 babies have been rescued from abortion through the collaborative efforts of Online for Life and participating life-affirming pregnancy centers.
