SAN DIEGO, April 22, 2014 (LifeSiteNews.com) – For the ninth year in a row faithful from San Diego marched through the streets of downtown on Good Friday and prayed the pro-life Stations of the Cross in front of the Federal Building to protest the killing of innocent children by abortion and offer reparation.
More than four hundred Catholics carried signs, sang songs, and prayed as police stopped traffic for the procession, which stretched over several city blocks. Led by a local priest, Fr. Anthony Saroki, and a team of acolytes, the manifestation began at the Cathedral of St. Joseph the Worker.
“What began as a small gathering nine years ago has blossomed into a significant rally for life,” said organizer, Roger Lopes, director of the local chapter of Helpers of God's Precious Infants.

Businessmen, teenagers, families with infants in their mother's arms, and many others walked through the streets praying the Divine Mercy Chaplet on the way to the Federal Building. Upon arrival the marchers lined the side walk and prayed the Stations of the Cross. As cars and pedestrians passed on one of the busiest avenues in downtown, many honked and made signs of approval. The procession was guided by a full squad of fourth degree Knights of Columbus in full uniform which added to the inspiring pageantry of the day.
“It is an inspiring way to bring our Faith into the streets on such a memorable day,” stated Kent Peters, director of the Office for Social Ministry for the Diocese of San Diego, who attends every year.
Upon returning to St. Joseph’s the event concluded with a prayer and blessing by Fr. Saroki on the steps of the Cathedral.
