BATON ROUGE, LA, May 27, 2014 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Abortion providers will no longer be permitted to distribute sex education material in Louisiana's public schools, once Gov. Bobby Jindal signs a bill that passed the state Senate today.

Senators approved H.B. 305, which bars any employee of an abortion facility or its affiliates from speaking about “human sexuality or family planning,” by a 31-5 vote. It passed the state House 91-6 on April 16; all six no votes were Democrats.

The bill, which applies to both public and charter schools, now goes to Gov. Jindal, who has promised to sign it into law.

The law will advance the state's interest of “separating the abortion industry from our taxpayers,” Benjamin Clapper, executive director of Louisiana Right to Life, told LifeSiteNews. “HB 305 extends that policy by making sure abortion businesses have no place in state-funded schools.”

“We appreciate the Senate's vote today and look forward to Governor Jindal signing the bill,” Clapper told LifeSiteNews.

Lawmakers who supported the bill cited the state's commitment to life and determination to protect underage girls from an industry they say exploits their ignorance and innocence.

“Louisiana has a long-standing policy of respecting the humanity of the unborn child,” said the bill's sponsor, State Rep. Frank Hoffmann, R-West Monroe. “Abortion providers should not be able to access publicly funded school grounds with any direct or indirect efforts to promote abortion.”

Dorinda Bordlee of the Bioethics Defense Fund, said, “Forty years of Roe has demonstrated that community acceptance of abortion as a neutral 'choice' ends up in increased sexual exploitation of women and girls, with devastating physical and psychological consequences for those who later resort to abortion.”

Gov. Jindal appeared at a press conference with state pro-life leaders to signal his support for the bill, which passed on the heels of another bill requiring abortionists to have admitting privileges at a local hospital.

Jindal was quick to say the bill did not exclude abortionists from addressing students, only that “they can’t use our schools to distribute this literature and promote abortion.”

The left-wing blog Think Progress objected that, far from specializing in abortion, “in fact, Planned Parenthood is currently the biggest sex ed provider in the country, with a large education-focused branch that works on developing age-appropriate sexual health material for use online and in classrooms. And its sex ed programs are typically well-received.”

However, former abortion facility owner Carol Everett recently revealed that the material she and others in the abortion industry distributed was designed entirely to encourage abortion – preferably multiple abortions for every teenage girl.

“We have a whole plan that sold abortions, and it was called sex education,” said Everett, who ran four abortion clinics in Texas in the late 1970s and early 1980s.

The sexual material and her “educational” talks were designed to “break down their natural modesty, separate them from their parents and their values, and become the sex expert in their life, so they turned to us.”

She added that after teaching them about genitalia in kindergarten and masturbation a few years later, she would prod young girls to engage in sexual activity by offering them defective “protection.”

“We would give them a low-dose birth control pill [that] they would get pregnant on, or a defective condom, because we didn't buy the most expensive condoms,” she said. “We bought the cheapest condoms.”
