LOS ANGELES, October 24, 2012, (LifeSiteNews.com) – What happens when you call a Planned Parenthood clinic where a woman recently died after a horrific botched abortion, and ask if abortion is safe and if anyone has ever been hurt at the clinic?
That’s what the pro-life organization Live Action set out to find out in its latest undercover investigation. In addition to the Chicago facility where Tonya Reaves died earlier this summer, Live Action undercover investigators called abortion clinics in seven states that had recently botched abortions so badly that officials had to call 911 for emergency medical assistance.
In every case, officials at the clinics insisted abortion was safe, and that no one had ever been harmed at their clinics.
“Our investigation exposes not only how unsafe Planned Parenthood clinics can be for women, but also how dishonest and untrustworthy Planned Parenthood is to the very women it claims to defend,” said Lila Rose, the group’s founder. “When it comes to the lethal dangers of its billion-dollar abortion business, no lie is too audacious for Planned Parenthood.”
“There’s a lot of misinformation about abortion online. It’s very safe, and the doctors are very skilled at what they do,” said a female operator at Planned Parenthood in Sioux City, Iowa, where a woman was transported by ambulance last December.
Perhaps the video’s most chilling moment comes when Live Action called Planned Parenthood in Chicago, asking, “So, no one’s ever been hurt at your clinic?”
“No,” the employee responded.
That is the same clinic where 24-year-old Tonya Reaves died on July 20 from severe bleeding, the result of a perforated uterus, as well as an incomplete abortion. Officials waited nearly five hours before calling for emergency assistance. Her mother is presently suing.

Planned Parenthood employees made the same denials at Virginia Beach, where a 28-year-old woman had been transported for heavy bleeding, as well as Boise, St. Paul, and Birmingham.
An operator in Houston vouched for the safety of terminating an unborn life, although a woman had to be transported for severe hemorrhaging on August 23. According to Susan Miral of the Houston Coalition for Life, it was the seventh medical emergency since May 2010.
“As President Obama campaigns for women voters, one of his top donors and champions, Planned Parenthood, is deceiving millions of American women about the services they provide, their history of abuse cover up, their radical abortion agenda, and just this past July, their unsafe and abusive practices that led to the death of Tonya Reaves,” said Rose.
Planned Parenthood has spent $12 million in a series of attack ads, and its president, Cecile Richards, has taken a leave of absence to campaign for Barack Obama’s re-election.
Operation Rescue recently released a video documenting 14 calls to 911 from Planned Parenthood facilities in the last 22 months.
“There can be no doubt that Planned Parenthood, the largest supplier of abortions in the nation, presents a danger to women everywhere. Obama’s shameful support of this abortion cartel is placing the lives of women at risk of bodily injury and death,” said Operation Rescue President Troy Newman. “We cannot afford four more years of carnage against women. On November 6, we urge Americans to vote to protect the health and safety of women and their pre-born babies by voting Obama out of office.”
